Doyle Residence

This project is AKa's inaugural NET ZERO private residential home! Every project in our portfolio is approached with green initiatives and always strive for sustainable and carbon neutral footprint structures. This one, however, due in part by its geographical location, it must sustain itself to provide comfort for the Doyle's year round.

​

Nestled deep in the Canadian North, this home is in the 7A zone where the air temperature dips below -40dC and 3 foot + deep snow throughout the winter months is standard.  Net Zero approach will be a challenge, but with the collaborative team of experts and energy  consultants, including energy modellers, this super air tight and insulated building envelope complete with rooftop solar panels, infloor heating, passive heat and cool, hi-efficiency HRV system, smartrain system, and traditional masonry heater for residual heat during those cold winter nights, it might stand a chance. Or close to!
